Below is the church that I attended for the past 2 years in VE. It's translated "Christian Life Church." It is a vibrant Evangelical church, very similar to the Assemblies of God in the US. As a matter of fact, it may well be the same thing, I just don't know enough about religious theology in a Spanish vocabulary to be sure.
I wanted to take photos of the services too, but I couldn't get over the fact that it's rather rude to take photos while people are worshiping the Lord or in the middle of someone's sermons. Nevertheless, there are tons of photos on the church's website:

Moths find their way into the school and alight in whichever place suites them best. Of course, once you decide to take a picture of them they flit away. I carefully sneaked up on this moth to photograph it. There are at least 2 other species of moths on campus that are twice as big as this one, but I haven't been able to catch them on camera.
A less common but perhaps more interesting insect I encountered was this praying mantis! He had the audacity to seat himself in the dismissal area at the end of the day. As swarms of students began to parade past him, he raised his claws as if to say, "I shall defend my ledge!" Instead, my friend Dave kindly took hold of the creature so we could all have a closer look ;-) We released the mantis back into his grassy homeland directly afterward.
I have been intrigued by some of the jewelry here. The teensy flowers in the necklace are real! Somehow the jeweler encases them either in plastic or in glass, and the flowers retain both the shape and color indefinitely. I bought this necklace while I was in Cubiro, a country village. There is more about Cubiro in another post.
This photo was taken on a sunny day while my students were coming back from gym class. I happened to look up at the sky and discover this beautiful sight! I'm sure my fellow teachers thought I was a little crazy, staring straight up into the sky, mesmerized. I have seen more "sun dogs" or "auroras" in Venezuela since then, but none to compare with this one!
One of my favorite flowers, found only in choice countries like Venezuela: Bird of Paradise Flower
